Best Deep[awali/ Diwali Pooja Time/ Muhurta 2012
There are
diverse views about choosing proper time for Diwali/ Dipawali Pooja. The most
popular is to perform this auspicious act in the Sthir Lagnas (Fixed
Ascendants), provided it is in ‘Amavasya’ Tithi.. The reason for choosing Sthir
Lagna (Fixed Ascendant), as explained in my earlier posts, is the belief that Pooja done in Sthir Lagna will stabilize
Maa Laxmi (Deity of wealth and other monetary resources), who is considered
very prone to movement.
This Year
Diwali/ Dipawali is being celebrated on November 13, 2012 and Tithi of Amavasya
on this date is for the period 07:13 AM on November 13, 2012 to 03:37 AM of November
14, 2012 (i.e. intervening night of November 13, 2012 & November 14, 2012).
There are four
Sthira Lagnas (Fixed Ascendants) in all i.e. Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.
This year, timings
for Sthir Lagnas on this date, after sunrise, are:
Vrishchik
(Scorpio) 7:01 AM to 09:18 AM
Kumbh
(Aquarius) 01:06 PM to 02:32 PM
Vrishabh
(Taurus) 05:33 PM to 07:28 PM
Simha (Leo) 00:08
AM to 02:24 AM in the intervening night of November 13, 2012 & November 14,
2012
It is also preferred
that the time for Pooja should be between Sunset to Sunrise.
However,
astrological puritans do not opt for these general rules.
At first, they analyze
the quality of Lagna, also called Lagna Shuddhi (Ascendant Purification) as per
principles given in the classics; secondly, they also try to get best of any
Lagna by applying some other tools, as per their belief and experience. This is
also true in our case.
Another
innovation from our side. We use Chalit Kundli for Lagna Shuddhi (Ascendant
Purification).
Since, last many
years, we are suggesting proper Muhurta, based on our innovations and
researches and finding excellent results. It is our humble suggestion that all
the Muhurta should be place specific and if one wants to get excellent results,
it should be person specific.
As already
said, preferred time for Deepawali Pooja is between Sunset to Sunrise; however,
it is a tradition all over India to do Deepawali Pooja in offices, business
places, shops etc. at day time and we get repeated requests every year for the same.

Knowledgeable
readers will observe that we have not given primacy to fixed ascendants (Sthir
Lagna). This is due to obvious reasons, which will be elaborated in another post
in a detailed way.
Choice is
yours, whatever time you choose for worshiping Goddess Laxmi (Dhan/ wealth), do
not forget that Lord Ganesh (Buddhi/ intellect) is always in her side. My best

Note: Here all
the calculations have been done keeping New Delhi as reference place. Residents
of other places may clarify the point from some competent astrologer, because a
Muhurta calculated for a particular place is valid for that place only and not
any other place.
