‘Rape’- dilemmas of an Astrologer
With the Delhi Gang Rape, suddenly, the word ‘Rape’ has got central
place in the Indian Media. The trauma being faced by the Victim of Gang Rape in
the Bus has evoked our deep emotions. Everyone has to say something on this traumatic
topic. Rising graph in the charts showing Rape Statistics is bound to unnerve
anyone.
However, being astrologers, due to our unique profession, the
word ‘Rape’ comes before us with very different dimensions, creating unique
dilemmas, never faced by any other professional. They throw us in very tricky
situations, unable to know, how to handle.
Some of the unique situations, being faced by us are
as follows-
We are handling a case of horoscope matching. We discover
and latter confirmed by the girl that a close relative had sexually assaulted
her, in the past. Should we disclose this fact to the Groom side?
A girl or woman approaches us, after having passed through
this highly traumatic experience. While,
discussing her horoscope, we provide all type of support to her to uplift her emotionally
and psychologically. Should we compel her to approach the Police, even if
she is unwilling for the same?
A man, while his horoscope is being analyzed, accepts that
he had sexually assaulted so and so. Should we only preach him for
reforming, or should we call immediately Police for apprehending this rapist?
A woman approaches us for counseling, after being sexually victimized.
She clearly shows Rape Trauma syndrome. She does not want to a clinical psychotherapist
and feels more comfortable with us. Should we send her to a hospital for
psychotherapy or handle ourselves?
These are only some of the unique situations; we have to
face in real life. In a unique case, our client was discussing her relationship
with a specific man and then she exploded the bomb before us, “I was raped by this
man one year back”. Unbelievable, she continued
to remain in touch with the man, who had raped her in the past.
